SUPER VISA
A parent or a grandparent of an individual who is a permanent citizen staying in Canada is eligible to obtain a Super Visa. It is crucial to note that the passport of the applicant should bear a validity of at least 6 months after the specific application date.
Relevant documentary details that you need to keep in mind are:
- IMM 5257 – Application to obtain a Temporary Resident Visa Filled Outside of Canada
- FMM 5645 – Information about the Family
- FMM 5484 – A precise checklist of mandatory documents
- IMM 5257 – Statutory Declaration associated to The Common Law Union
- IMM 5476 – Details about an official Representative
- A list having names of sponsors who have sponsored the visitor previously and whose sponsors are still valid
- A contract with a guarantee of financial support for the period your parent or grandparent stays in Canada
- Proofs that show the income of the visitor at least meet the terms of LICO, or Low-income cut-off
- Two recent passport-size photographs
- Proofs that validate the relationship with the permanent citizen living in Canada (it can be a birth certificate document, baptismal paper, or any other governmental document)
- A Letter of Invitation that tells about ensuring care and support for the visitor
The Letter of Invitation should include all the relevant informative details about the visitor such as full official name, passport details, visa information, occupation details, and duration of stay. It is mandatory to mention the spouse’s and dependants’ names.
The applicant should submit a valid proof of a medical insurance policy under his or her name. The insurance company should be a registered Canadian insurance company. The policy must have the terms and conditions to cover costs related to general health care, hospitalization, repatriation, and specific set of medical treatment procedures. The minimum amount of the coverage should be CAD 100000. It should be valid each time the visitor enters Canada with a Super Visa.
Biometrics is required
In almost every case, the applicant needs to submit his or her fingerprints and recent photographs to the concerned Canadian authorities to obtain the Super Visa.
A visa exempt can apply to get a Super Visa
If you don’t require a Visitor or Tourist Visa to enter Canada and stay in the country, you can conveniently apply for a Super Visa. You would get an official letter from the authorities upon approval within a regulatory framework. You may also need an Electronic Travel Authorization document, known as the eTA document, if you have plans to travel by air. It is mandatory to travel to Canada with your valid passport and the approval letter.
